Macrame

Just a quick post to say that the first pattern of my knit scarf club is now available for individual purchase, either as a download through Ravelry or as a kit from the shop.

There are kits available in the following colourways, or I’m happy to make up an individual colour-way for you, just let me know which colours you would like.

Macrame in Dark Magenta and Garland

Macrame in Manor Grey and Deep Violet

Macrame in Roasted Red Pepper and Japanese Maple

Macrame in Cottage White and Big Surf Blue

I think I’ll be making a few of these as Christmas presents this year, they are quick and satisfying to make!

Scarf Club Begins!

Some of you may have already seen my ads on Ravelry, but for those who haven’t: sign-ups for my new scarf club are now open!

I want the patterns to be a bit of surprise, so I’m only showing you a picture of the first one, which is called Macrame.

Macrame is so LOFTY, I love it. It also knits up fast as it only uses two balls of yarn and is knit on big needles – which makes it so light and drapey. I used 8mm, but you could use 7mm if you knit quite loosely. Although it is quite an open stitch pattern, it isn’t lacy, so men should be happy to wear this one too. No guarantees though, men are picky…. ;)  Although I’ve used a classic pink and green combo here (Garland and Dark Magenta), any two colours that work together could be used, including whichever your local sports team colours are!

All scarves are suitable for men or women, just alter the colours as you see fit. For each scarf I’ve knitted some swatches in other colourways (including at least one ‘manly’ version for each scarf) that I’ll email to you before sending the kits, so you can choose which one you want.

I’m also happy to make up a kit from colours you choose – but it’s best to buy a shadecard to ensure that the colours are exactly what you have in mind. I do my best to get accurate colours, but as you probably know, monitors vary, and seeing a photo just isn’t the same as seeing the actual yarn.

The other two scarves are knit on 5mm, and take 3 and 4 balls. One uses travelling stitches, and the other uses slip stitches. Both are stitch patterns that I’ve designed specifically for scarves, and that’s all the information you’re getting for now! Ok, there is a little bit more on the sign-up page, so go! Check it out :)
